Artist Of The Month              New*

New 2010 Featured Artist of the month  Supplya

When it comes to supplying a demand, Block Ent’s newest edition is ready to fill the void. Raised in the Kirkwood streets of Atlanta, Supplya is using his background and voice to portray an important message. “I write about what I feel, what I come from, and what I grew up around,” Supplya explains his purpose for rapping. “I want to be motivation, to let people know even if you come from the hood, if you have faith and believe in yourself, then this is where you can be.”

Though Supplya was mentored by Russell Spencer (aka Block) since he was a child, it was a long journey before he could follow the footsteps of Jody Breeze, Gorilla Zoe, Kollosus, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, and other Block affiliates. At the age of 14, Supplya started dropping tracks to stay out of the streets. Supported by his mother, sister, and Kirkwood comrades, gradually his skills improved – each song telling the story of where he came from, and what it took to survive.

“I could rap then, but I wasn’t ready,” he admits. “I wasn’t ready to handle the responsibility, being on the road, being in the studio.” It took years of grooming, and with experience came the work ethic he needed. When his drive reached its peak, Supplya made a serious decision to leave the past behind in exchange for a positive future.

He signed with Block Ent. at the age of 23. Over the last year, Supplya has accumulated an impressive catalog, piecing together 5 mixtapes worth of material. His first project, Gangsta Grillz: Word on da Street, hosted by DJ Drama, set the stage for upcoming tapes like Gift Wrap, Heroin Music (DJ Bobby Black), Goin to da Feds (DJ Scream), and Black Friday. Backed by production from A-listers like Drumma Boy, Zaytoven, Shawty Redd, KE, DJ Montay, Cavi, and more, Supplya’s collection appeals to a diversified fan base. Influenced by greats like Tupac, Biggie and Jay Z, Supplya hopes to work with artists such as Young Jeezy, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, and others.

Alongside his solo work, Supplya is also collaborating on a full-length project with the Block Boyz – a group consisting of Gorilla Zoe, Supplya, Kollosus, and Diego Cash. His first single “Thow’d Off,” which features the Block Boyz, is already preparing listeners for what is to come.

“Cats ain’t sellin’ records no more,” Supplya explains his hunger for improvement. “I’m studying my craft so I can set myself up for the future. My main goal is to sell records.” And with that goal in mind, Supplya is setting new standards each time he steps in the booth.
